The coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) is a tall, tropical tree known for its versatile and valuable fruit, the coconut. The fruit is a large, oval-shaped drupe with a hard, woody shell. The outer husk, called the coir, is fibrous and protects the seed inside.

 15-30 gallons of water per day if being grown for fruit harvesting purposes. They can also be grown indoors, but need much less water since they will not bear fruit.

Fertilizer

Organic Manure @50kg/palm or 30 kg green manure, 500 g N, 320 g P2O5 and 1200 g K2O/palm/year in two split doses during September and May.

Pet friendly

Coconut is non-toxic to dogs, but it does contain medium-chain triglycerides, which may cause some gastrointestinal upset and bloating. You'll want to check with your veterinarian before giving your dog coconut, of course.

Soil

laterite, alluvial, red sandy loam, coastal sandy and reclaimed soils with a pH ranging from 5.2 to 8.0.
